What time is it in China?

Hannah woke up this morning coughing & came into bed with us. As she & I were going back to sleep (since it was 6am on a Saturday!?!) she said to me out of nowhere "what time is it in China?" Just broke my heart. Here she is trying to go back to sleep thinking about her sister somewhere in China. Sometimes I forget that she is waiting too. I get so caught up in my waiting & in Jim's waiting that I neglect the fact that Hannah has been waiting for Lily since she was 3. I realize she doesn't completely understand the concept of time (since I can fake her out with "in 5 minutes" and "5 minutes" extends to "15 minutes") but this has to feel just as long for her as it does for us.

The other day we were in the bookstore looking at cookbooks .. I was looking through a Chinese cookbook & Hannah wanted to see pictures of food that babies eat in China. She is really trying to imagine life for our little precious Lily somewhere in China.

Today from "31 Days of Praise", I read (from Day 7), "Thank you that in your Word I can see Your face and hear your voice. I can discover Your will and Your patterns for living and serving. I can develop deeper faith and confidence. Thank you that the Holy Spirit inspired Your Word and uses it to enlighten and guide me, and to change me more and more into Your image, from one degree of glory to another."


Isaiah 55:8-11 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways", declares the Lord. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater so is my Word that goes out from my mouth. It will not return to me empty but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."

This is a jungle of waiting but I thank you, Lord, that we can trust You and praise You ....no matter what time it is in China.
